The Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Suri Vidyasagar College will be culminated in March, 2017.The College desires that the last phase of Programme be inaugurated by the Hon’ble President, Govt. Of India,Shri Pranab Mukherjee and respected Chief Minister, Govt.of West Bengal, Smt Mamata Banerjee. Efforts are being taken on this venture. The College cited that that the programme will be set as per the convenience of the day of visit of The President and Chief Minister.
During that occasion, the College is ready to place an appeal regarding transformation of this College to University, before the Hon’ble guests. It is fact; meanwhile our Chief Minister decided and declared that a University near Bolpur will be established shortly. The enthusiastic people still believe that there is scope for transformation of this College to University.
The former Principal and the Principal in the chair are optimistic to see the College as University as the declared University near Bolpur will be a different state of University.
Geographically, this College is nearer to colleges affiliated to BU., adjacent to Burdwan and Jharkhand. The authority expressed that this College is with more than 9 acres of land,7 two storied buildings, one boys’ and another Girls ‘Hostels, well furnished Laboratories ,and a unique Play ground adjustable for Football, Volleyball, Cricket ,Badminton and Basketball Play.
There are plenty of vacant area within the Campus which has the potentiality of erecting new Buildings.
This College was accredited by NAAC in 2005 and got the rank of B+ . In its second cycle NAAC approved B++ which seems to be first in Birbhum District.
Instead of producing Alumnus like The President of India, it has also other alumni like Late(Dr) Debranjan Mukhupadhyay , Former Professor of Burdwan University, Princiapl of BC College, Asansole and Guskara College, and former Lecturer in Bengali deptt.,Suri Vidyasagar College, Late (Dr) Ramaranjan Mukhopadhyay, Former Vice Chancellor,RabindraBharati and Burwan University , and Chancellor, Tirupati Sanskrit University, Late Mr Tulsi Giri, Former Prime Minister, Nepal Govt. ,Late (Dr) Karunasindhu Das, Former Vice Chancellor , Rabindra Bharati , Late(Dr) Krishnanath Chatterjee, Former VC North Bengal University ,Prof.Amal Mukhopadhyay Former Principal, Presidency College, Mr P K Banerjee, National Footballer and Olympian, Prof.(Dr.) Amitabha Ghosh, Former Director, IIT Kanpur and Kharagpur and other reputed educationist established in the Country and abroad.
At least 45 Ex-students worked / still working as Principal in different Colleges of West Bengal.
This College was in consideration as Lead College in the District of Birbhum in 2004, but the news diffused.
